COSMETIC TREATMENTS

Patient Instructions

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

WRINKLE Reduction

This treatment weakens muscles, curbing expression lines. It induces muscle weakness, reducing treated muscle function, diminishing or erasing expression lines. Dosage varies based on individual factors, administered by a registered nurse post consultation with a doctor. Effects emerge within 14 days, typically lasting 2 to 4 months. Muscles won’t function while the injection is active, reversing after 3-4 months, allowing for potential re-treatment.
The most common side effects associated with the use of  wrinkle reduction include, but are not limited to: Swelling, Bruising, Infection, Temporary eyelid/eyebrow drooping, Muscle atrophy, Headache. Other side effects may include Dry Mouth, Tinnitus, Erythema multiforme, Anorexia, Vision blurred, Visual disturbance, Hypoacusis, Dysarthria, Paresthesia, Pyrexia, Malaise, Myalgia, Myasthenia gravis, Radiculopathy, Syncope, Hypoesthesia, Facial paresis, Facial palsy, Strabismus, Vertigo, Peripheral Neuropathy, Pruritus, Diarrhea, Dermatitis psoriasiform, Alopecia including madarosis, Abdominal pain, Nausea and/or vomiting, and Brachial plexopathy.
Generalised side effects may occur such as rash, Itchiness, allergic reactions, flu like symptoms, and hypertrophic scars/keloids and tightness.
Some individuals may develop antibodies to the treatment, necessitating alternative options at an extra cost. If these are ineffective, a temporary restriction of 18 months from wrinkle reduction.
Refrain from alcohol 24 hours before your appointment to minimize the risk of bruising, and avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications if possible for 2 weeks before your treatment. Check with your clinician before stopping any medications.
Plan your appointment at least 2 weeks before special events, as results take 4 to 14 days to appear.
Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and after treatment, and reschedule if you have any skin irritation or blemish in the area.
Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores, as they may recommend an anti-viral medication before treatment. Ensure you have a good breakfast before the procedure to prevent lightheadedness.
Note that pregnancy or breastfeeding disqualifies you as a candidate for the treatment.
POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Following your treatment, you may find it helpful to apply iced gauze to the treated area. Treatment normally takes 2 to 4 days to start to take effect, and 10 to 14 days to reach full effect. Do NOT manipulate or touch the treated area for 6 hours following treatment. You should also avoid having any laser or facial treatments for at least 10 days after your treatment.
It is important that you do NOT lie down for 4 to 6 hours after your treatment. This helps prevent the product from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing a drooping eyelid. It can take approximately 14 days to see the full results. If you feel that you do not have the desired result, you may require additional product. You will be charged for the amount of product used, including any touch-up or subsequent appointments.
You should avoid activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 12 hours after treatment while the product is settling in the injected area. Additionally, do not expose your skin to excessive heat or cold, including saunas, spas, steam rooms, hot yoga, ice baths, or skiing. Changes in temperature can lead to increased touching or rubbing of your face, which may put unwanted pressure on the treated muscles and risk the dispersion of the product into unwanted areas.
It is not unusual to experience some mild side effects following treatment such as mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising at or around the injection site. Tiny red dots may also appear at the injection site. You may experience a mild headache after treatment, for which paracetamol may be taken if required. If you do experience bruising, minimise excessive exercise in the first couple of days following treatment. If you feel unwell or have any concerns about your treatment, please contact the clinic.

The treatment typically lasts approximately 3 to 4 months but may vary depending on the quantity used and individual factors.
Please note that due to the subjective nature of these treatments, it is not possible to guarantee results, and there are limitations based on your personal anatomy. As these treatments are non-permanent, the longevity of treatment results may vary between individuals depending on how your body metabolises the product.
FOLLOW UP
After your initial treatment, you will generally be invited to attend a follow-up appointment approximately 2-4 weeks after your treatment. This enables us to assess the result and whether you need more product for correction. There are instances where one side will take effect quickly than the other, the other side then catches up over those 4 weeks as the maximal effect continues to build up to 4 weeks.
What happens over the next few months after treatment?
At 8 weeks post treatment, you will start to get more movement back.
At 12 weeks after treatment, most people find that their movement is 50% back to normal
At 16 weeks after treatment, most people find that their movement is 80% back to normal.
Retreatment is advised every 3-4 months to maintain results.
If you experience any of the above severe complications please contact the clinic on 0421978805 or [email protected]
Please note this email may not be seen between the hours of 9pm and 7am so if any concerns arise during this time or if there is a high level of concern after hours present to your nearest emergency department or call 000.

VOLUMISING, REJURAN &

BIO-REMODELLING

Rejuran is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses polynucleotides derived from salmon DNA. It works by promoting skin healing, improving skin elasticity, hydration, and texture, and stimulating collagen production. Rejuran is often used to reduce fine lines, improve skin tone, and repair damaged or aging skin, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance. The treatment is minimally invasive and typically involves a series of injections into the skin.

Volumising and Bio remodelling treatment uses a naturally occurring complex sugar substance that helps stabilise the skin structure by attracting and binding water, contributing to the skin’s elasticity and firmness. When injected into the skin, it replenishes natural support structures that may be lost or damaged due to ageing, helping to smooth wrinkles, fill facial hollows, and enhance lip volume. Initially, you may notice swelling around the treatment area. It may take up to three days to see visible results. The effects generally last around four months or longer, and follow-up treatments will be required to maintain the results.

It is important to understand that these treatments can produce impressive improvements, but results cannot be guaranteed as they depend on individual anatomy and how your body processes the product. Since this treatment is not permanent, the duration of results will vary between individuals.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects may appear immediately or even years after treatment and can include redness, bruising, swelling, infection, itching, tightness, nerve irritation, bumps, lumps, pimples, tenderness, cold sore outbreaks, tissue scarring, pain, hematoma (collection of blood under the skin), bacterial or viral infections, and immune reactions.

Rare but serious side effects may include irreversible discoloration, abscess formation, stroke, increased asymmetry, blockage of blood vessels leading to tissue death (necrosis), granulomas (small tissue nodules), blindness, and abnormal scarring.

Risk of Infection and Other Complications

The procedure involves needles or cannulas passing through skin and tissue, which can cause trauma such as bleeding, bruising, hematomas, or damage to underlying structures like veins, arteries, nerves, salivary glands, lymph nodes, bone, or muscle. These complications are rare but may cause lasting changes in sensation, appearance, or function and sometimes require medical treatment.

Infections—bacterial, viral, or fungal—can occur, causing redness, swelling, and sometimes abscess formation. Injections in the lip area may trigger cold sore reactivation. These infections may resolve on their own or need medical intervention.

Allergic reactions are rare but can include immediate swelling or, very rarely, severe anaphylaxis. Delayed reactions may cause lumps, nodules, or abscesses weeks or months after treatment and can affect appearance and function.

Visual and Skin Changes

Some individuals may notice lumps, bumps, swelling, asymmetry, puffiness, or skin irregularities. These are usually temporary and treatable. Pigment changes, new visible veins, or blemishes may also develop but are uncommon and may require further treatment or could be permanent.

Blood Vessel Blockage

In very rare cases, blood vessels may become blocked by the injected substance, which can lead to tissue damage (necrosis) or, more seriously, affect blood supply to the eye or brain, causing blindness or stroke. Immediate medical attention is essential if blood vessel blockage is suspected.

If you live far from specialized medical facilities, reversal of complications may be difficult or impossible. The treating practitioner will act with the best medical judgement to manage any adverse events.

Additional Important Information

This treatment may provide only minor volume improvement in the treated area.

It does not treat pigmentation issues or dark circles under the eyes.

Migration of the product may occur.

Multiple treatment sessions may be needed to achieve the desired results.

If you experience any severe complications or have concerns following your treatment, please contact the clinic immediately at 0421 978 805 or [email protected]. Please note that this email may not be monitored between 6 pm and 7 am. For urgent concerns outside these hours, please visit your nearest emergency department or call 000.

DISSOLVANT

In some treatments, there is a small risk that the injected product will press on small blood vessels, causing reduced blood circulation to the skin. This can lead to tissue damage and possibly scarring. If you experience prolonged pain in the treated area and/or a change in skin colour—such as paleness, white, or dusky grey discoloration rather than the purplish or red colour of a bruise—within 24 hours after your treatment, please contact your cosmetic practitioner immediately for advice. A dissolving agent may be administered to reverse the effects of the injected product.

If a complication related to the injected product occurs, an enzyme-based dissolvant may be used. This enzyme breaks down the injected substance and has been safely used in medical applications for over 60 years to correct complications or unsatisfactory results after injections. Risks and side effects of this enzyme may include pain, itching, or redness at the injection site. Swelling in the hands, feet, or other body areas may also occur. Additionally, the breakdown of your body’s own natural substances and the injected material could result in the need for further treatments to restore volume. Temporary reduction in skin elasticity, volume, and symmetry usually lasts a few days.

It is common to experience bleeding, bruising, swelling or edema, and redness near the injection site. Infections, hematomas (larger collections of blood under the skin), or damage to underlying structures including veins, arteries, nerves, salivary glands, lymph nodes, bone, muscle, and other soft tissues are possible but rare. Some complications may cause ongoing problems with appearance, sensation, or function and may require medical intervention; in rare cases, effects may be permanent. Most injuries heal completely on their own. Rare side effects may include coughing, difficulty swallowing, hypersensitivity reactions, hives, swelling (angioedema), dizziness, rapid heartbeat, skin rash, or severe allergic reactions.

DAY OF TREATMENT

Please arrive with a clean face and no makeup. To maximise comfort, a topical anaesthetic may be applied before the procedure. You may experience mild tenderness or a stinging sensation during or after treatment. Bruising and swelling may occur.

If you have a history of cold sores on the skin or lips, please inform your practitioner prior to treatment, as some injectable procedures may reactivate the virus. You may be advised to take antiviral medication such as Zovirax on the day of treatment and for several days after, or take L-lysine supplements starting two to three days before and continuing for a week after treatment. If cold sores develop, contact the clinic immediately or your GP.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

During the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment, you may notice redness, swelling, and tenderness in the treated areas. These are normal and typically resolve within two to four days.

Bruising at injection sites is common and usually clears within one to ten days. Once bruising has appeared (within the first 48 hours), applying warmth to the area can encourage your body to reabsorb the bruise more quickly. Arnica cream and tablets may help reduce bruising.

Swelling and bruising can cause temporary unevenness in the treated areas, which will settle as the swelling and bruising subside. If unevenness persists after 14 days, please contact the clinic for advice. Occasionally, a further correctional treatment may be required within two to four weeks after your initial treatment. If you desire additional enhancement, this can typically be done after one to two months. Note that any additional treatment will be charged at the usual rate.

After your treatment, avoid touching, pressing, rubbing, or manipulating the treated areas for six hours to avoid irritation, sores, or scarring. Do not apply makeup for 24 hours; avoid lipstick or facial cosmetics until the day after treatment to reduce the risk of pustules. Sleep on your back rather than your side. Avoid flying for at least two weeks. If your lips were treated, do not lick them for at least 48 hours to avoid infection. Avoid wearing restrictive headwear such as goggles or large sunglasses. Do not have facedown massages or facial treatments involving pressure. Avoid vigorous exercise, sun, or heat exposure for three days after treatment. Prolonged exposure to sunlight, UV light, freezing temperatures, saunas, or Turkish baths should be avoided for two weeks post-treatment. Do not submerge your head underwater (in pools, the beach, hot tubs, or baths) for 24 hours. Avoid undergoing any laser treatments on the treated area for one month after injection. Refrain from taking aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids for three days to one week after treatment as they may increase bleeding or bruising. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, high-sodium or high-sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, or smoking for 24 to 48 hours to reduce swelling or irritation. Do not use Retin-A or similar products (e.g., Kinerase, Tazarac) for two days after treatment to avoid irritation or redness. Cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials, or microdermabrasion should be avoided for two weeks post-treatment.

Please report immediately to your provider if you experience increased pain, swelling, redness, blisters, or itching following treatment. Keep in mind that healing may progress at different rates on each side of your face.

WARNING: Signs of Vascular Injury

Symptoms may include an area of pale skin immediately after the procedure, blotchy or mottled patterns, and blue or grey darkening over time. Increasing pain during the first 24 hours is also a warning sign. A clinician can assess blood flow to confirm diagnosis. If you notice these signs, please contact us urgently.

MASSAGE

Avoid massaging the treated area as it may cause the injected product to move undesirably. However, if you notice early lump or nodule formation, gentle massage may be helpful. Contact the clinic with any concerns.

Your injector carefully plans product placement to minimise migration risk. Normal activities are generally fine, but avoid habitual pressure on treated areas.

FOLLOW-UP

You will typically be invited for a follow-up appointment two to four weeks after your initial treatment to assess results and determine if additional treatment is needed.

Patient Instructions

PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)

You should not have PRP treatment done if you have any of the following conditions:

Skin conditions and diseases including: Facial cancer, past and present. This included SCC, BCC and Melanoma, systemic cancer, chemotherapy, steroid therapy, dermatological diseases affecting the face (i.e. Porphyria), Blood disorders and platelet abnormalities, Anticoagulation therapy (i.e. Warfarin), Platelet dysfunction syndrome, critical thrombocytopenia, hyperfibrinogenaemia, haemodynamic instability, sepsis, chronic liver disease, Hepatitis or any acute or chronic infections.

RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS

The possible risk and side effects include but not limited to moderate to severe swelling, brusing of the treated area, which can last up to 21 days, as well as hemotosis staining, which can be permanent. You may notice a tingling sensation while the cells are being activated, dizziness and fainting, scarring, Bleeding, Pinkness/Redness (flushing). In rare cases skin infection or injury to nerves or blood vessels, pigmentation changes to skin, scar tissue formation and calcification at injection sight may occur. There is the possibility that the BioFiller gel product could block a blood vessel if it is injected within a larger artery.. Side effects to topical Lignocaine can include rash, itch, redness and in rare cases there may be allergic

If you experience any of the above severe complications please contact the clinic on 0421978805 or [email protected]

Please note this email may not be seen between the hours of 9pm and 7am so if any concerns arise during this time or if there is a high level of concern after hours present to your nearest emergency department or call 000.

Platelet rich plasma (prp)

Pre-Treatment

  • Drink plenty of water and adhere to a healthy lifestyle for the few weeks before your treatment. The healthier you are, the better your treatment will work.
  • Avoid anything that may cause bruising including Vitamin E, Fish oil and excessive fatty acids, aspirin and Neurofen and heavy alcohol intake.
  • It’s best to avoid all alcohol and drink plenty of fluids in the week before your PRP.

Post -Treatment

  • During the first 24–48 hours after treatment you will experience redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated areas. These responses are normal and resolve quickly and spontaneously over the next 2-4 days.
  • You can apply light water-based or mineral makeup where necessary.
  • Dink plenty of cold water for 48 hours after the procedure.
  • Bruising at the site of injection is also common and clears completely in 1-10 days.
  • Swelling and bruising can give the appearance of ‘unevenness’ in the area treated. This will settle once the swelling and bruising has gone. Please contact the clinic for advice if there is any ‘unevenness’ present after 14 days.

After your Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment you should:

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks and spicy food for 24 hours, as these may exacerbate bruising and swelling.
  • Avoid medications such as aspirin or nurofen for 1-2 weeks as they are blood thinning agents and may exacerbate bruising (if these medications have been advised by your GP please check with your GP before stopping them)
  • Avoid supplements such as multivitamins, fish oils, glucosamine and Vitamin B or Vitamin E, which are blood thinning agents and may exacerbate bruising for 1-2 weeks (if these supplements have been advised by your GP please check with your GP before stopping them)
  • Avoid exercise/exertion for 24 hours
  • Avoid excess sun exposure or solarium use for 24 hours
  • Apply ice frequently as required to the area injected for up to 6 hours after the treatment. This will prevent or help to alleviate any bruising. It will also help to reduce any swelling. You can use Arnica cream and arnica tablets to help alleviate any bruising. NOTE: bruises can last 1-10 days. They are TEMPORARY and will completely disappear over time with no effect on your treatment. Once bruising has formed (within the first 48 hours) it is better to apply warmth to the area to encourage the body’s natural reabsorption of the bruise from the skin. Please advise your cosmetic practitioner prior to treatment if you have suffered in the past with cold sores on the skin or lips. This viral infection may be re-activated by some injectable treatments. You are advised to take an anti-viral medication such as Zovirax on the day of your treatment and for several days after your treatment (available for purchase from the clinic prior to your treatment) or L-lysine (available from the chemist or health store) for 2-3 days prior to and a week after your treatment

You will feel raised ‘bumps’ and raised ‘threads’ on the skin in some areas that have been treated. It is advisable to massage the areas gently with a greasy moisturiser or arnica cream 2-3 x daily for 5-7 days. This will ensure that the booster is spread across the deep layer of the skin to create a sheet of product which will attract water to it and hydrate the deep layer of the skin. DO NOT MASSAGE ANY AREA TREATED WITH PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) IF YOU HAVE ALSO HAD MUSCLE RELAXANTS INJECTED IN THE SAME AREA If you feel that further treatment of an area is required, please contact your cosmetic practitioner for a follow up appointment or advice as to when a further treatment can be carried out.

If you suffer any allergic responses, prolonged generalised symptoms or any lumps/unevenness persists after 14 days, please contact us on [email protected]

PDO THREADS

Threads are placed under the skin via needle in the lower part of the face, neck, jaw and jowls once a topical numbing cream is applied for your comfort. Made from polydioxanone (PDO), the threads eventually dissolve while stimulating collagen and elastin production, creating a tightening effect. Once the needle is removed the threads remain in place for up to six months and then slowly dissolve.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections. Please talk to your clinician before stopping any medications.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 months prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation.
  • Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
  • Please do not smoke 2 days before and 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.
  • If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, they may put you on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Arrive with a “clean face”. Please do not wear makeup.
  • Do not schedule any dental work, including cleanings, 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • We always recommend using sunscreen to protect your skin as we will not perform the treatment on sunburnt skin. Please use care when in the sun and in the days prior to your appointment.
  • Do not use PDO Thread Lift if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER-TREATMENT

  • Swelling is a normal result of the injections and will generally disappear within 5-10 days. Swelling may also appear asymmetrical, this is normal and not an indication of the end result. Natural asymmetries are normal.
  • Redness, minimal to moderate swelling may be expected. Bruising may also be visible.
  • It may be normal to experience some tenderness at the treatment site(s) that can last for a few days.
  • It is common to feel a “firmness” in the treated area(s) after the first few days and weeks of the treatment. Over time, the area(s) will soften and “settle”, leaving you with a soft, natural looking result.

POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Swelling is a normal result of the injections and will generally disappear within 5-10 days. Swelling may also appear asymmetrical, this is normal and not an indication of the end result. Natural asymmetries are normal.
  • Post-treatment discomfort is completely normal. However, if you are experiencing any extreme discomfort, nerve pain or numbness or muscle dysfunction please inform the clinic. You can Take regular paracetamol, apply a cool compress and sleep on your back, slightly elevated.
  • Apply a cool compress to the area for 10 minutes every hour on treatment day.
  • Take an antihistamine (e.g. 10mg loratadine)
  • Do NOT manipulate or touch the treated area for 6 hours following treatment.
  • Do NOT have any laser or facial after Anti-Wrinkle injections for at least 10 days.
  • Do not pick at the tiny scab that will form at the entry point over the next few days.  If it itches, hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip may be gently applied to the site, or an oral antihistamine such Benadryl can be taken.
  • Do not apply skin care products/makeup for 24 hours post treatment
  • You may begin wearing makeup once any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided and once your face has healed.
  • Avoid MASSAGE the treated area(s) for 4 weeks. When cleansing your face or applying makeup, use gentle, sweeping motions to avoid excessive mobility of the area(s).
  • Avoid bath (only shower), strenuous activities/sports for 1 week.
  • Avoid Direct Heat, RF, Laser, IPL treatment for 4 weeks.
  • AVOID excessive chewing, talking, yawning, smiling, and other facial movements of the treated area(s) for 1 week. You might occasionally feel a small pop to the area. That is OK, the thread is still setting in and it won’t cause any drop of facial structures.
  • Keep your head elevated in several pillows for the first 3 nights after the procedure, avoid sleeping in the face down position if you can.
  • You may take Panadol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort. AVOID aspirin or ibuprofen products as they may increase your potential to bruise.
  • AVOID drinking alcohol for a minimum of 12 hours as this may contribute to bruising and/or swelling.
  • AVOID extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Be sure to apply an SPF 40 or higher sunscreen.
  • Additional Instructions: Call our office promptly if you experience ANY of the following signs and symptoms: Increasing pain, redness, swelling, significant bruising or darkening at or around the treatment area lasting over 5 days, notable change in temperature to the skin surrounding the treatment area, drainage or fever or ANY other concerns you may have.
  • Avoid shaving/dermaplaning the treatment area for 7 days.
  • No dental work for 4 weeks.
  • Sleep on your back, slightly elevated.

NCTF

Pre-Care Instructions

In the 7 to 10 days leading up to your appointment, please avoid taking aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, unless these have been prescribed to you by your doctor. Additionally, discontinue supplements such as fish oil, gingko biloba, St. John’s Wort, and high-dose vitamin E, as they can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. Regular multivitamins and paracetamol (if not contraindicated) are permitted. To protect your skin and ensure safe treatment, avoid sun exposure and prevent sunburn. It is also essential to avoid any other skin or aesthetic treatments, such as eyebrow tinting, waxing, dermaplaning, facials, chemical peels, microneedling, or laser procedures for at least two weeks prior to your NCTF session. We encourage you to read through your consent forms and the treatment information provided to familiarise yourself with the procedure.

Within 24 hours before your appointment, avoid alcohol consumption, as it can heighten the risk of bruising and bleeding. Please refrain from strenuous physical activity on the day before and the day of treatment. You should attend your appointment with a clean face, free from makeup. On the day of your session, eat a light meal or snack beforehand to avoid feeling lightheaded. Finally, please ensure you inform your clinician of any medications or supplements you are currently taking, as well as your full medical history, including allergies and health conditions.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

Immediately following your NCTF treatment, you may notice the presence of small, raised bumps in the treated area. These bumps are completely normal and indicate successful product placement; they typically subside within 1 to 48 hours as the solution disperses beneath the skin. Bruising is the most common side effect and can appear immediately, often lasting between 3 to 5 days. Mild swelling and tenderness at the treatment area may also occur and usually resolve within a few days to a week. Although there is no formal downtime required, and most patients are able to resume their normal daily activities right away, we recommend following all aftercare steps to support proper healing and to achieve the best aesthetic outcome.

Aftercare Guidelines

After your treatment, do not wash your face or apply any skincare products for a minimum of 4 to 6 hours. During this time, also avoid applying makeup to the treated area. Once 24 hours have passed, you may resume makeup use, but be sure to clean and sanitise all brushes and applicators beforehand to reduce the risk of infection. Refrain from vigorous exercise and activities that cause sweating for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and spa environments for at least 48 hours. Additionally, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure during the first few days following treatment, and wear a high-quality, broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect your skin. Gentle skincare products and hydration are key to maintaining results; harsh exfoliants, peels, and active ingredients (such as retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or vitamin C) should be avoided for at least 3–5 days unless otherwise directed by your clinician.

If you experience any unexpected side effects, such as prolonged swelling, pain, or signs of infection (e.g., warmth, pus, spreading redness), please contact the clinic promptly. Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are our priority.

EXOSOMES

Contraindications

Unfortunately, exosome therapy is not suitable for everyone. You will not be eligible for treatment if you have hemophilia or blood clotting disorders, papulopustular rosacea, stage III–IV acne vulgaris, solar keratosis, are currently undergoing chemotherapy or immune therapy, or have connective tissue or autoimmune disorders such as lupus. Other absolute contraindications include long-term corticosteroid use, pregnancy or nursing, HIV/AIDS, anticoagulant use (e.g., Warfarin or aspirin), known allergies to nickel or stainless steel, scleroderma, and collagen vascular diseases. If you are taking transplant anti-rejection drugs, have heart disease, hypertension (treated), insulin-dependent diabetes, or have been treated for cancer in the past 12 months, you will require written clearance from your healthcare provider before proceeding with treatment. Temporary contraindications include any active skin infections, such as bacterial, fungal, or viral infections (including cold sores or warts), sunburn, inflammation, or open lesions in the treatment area. In these cases, treatment can only be performed once the skin has completely healed.

Waiting Periods After Other Procedures

Certain cosmetic or medical treatments require a waiting period before exosome therapy can safely be performed. You must wait at least 3 months following facial surgery or cosmetic tattooing, 6–12 months after finishing Isotretinoin (e.g., Roaccutane), and 8 weeks after laser resurfacing treatments. You should also wait 2 weeks after IPL or laser hair removal, Botox, and hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, and 6 weeks after Sculptra or Radiesse. Strong chemical peels with a pH below 3.1 also require a 2-week interval.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

At least one week prior to your session, discontinue the use of fish oil, plant-based oils, omega-3 supplements, ginseng, gingko biloba, St. John’s Wort, retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, hydroquinone, kojic acid, azelaic acid, and anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, as they can interfere with healing. Additionally, avoid waxing or depilatory creams in the treatment area. Patients with dermatoses such as psoriasis should be aware that microneedling can potentially trigger flare-ups, even if dormant for years.

Post-Treatment Recovery

Immediately following exosome therapy combined with microneedling, your skin may appear red and exhibit pinpoint bleeding. Within the first 24 hours, you may experience erythema (redness), petechiae (small red dots), and mild swelling. Over the next 2–3 days, these symptoms generally fade, although a sensation of tightness, itching, or minor flaking may occur. By days 4–5, most patients experience full recovery with the skin returning to normal function. Results begin to appear as early as 3 weeks post-treatment, with improvements in pigmentation, followed by visible improvements in lines, wrinkles, and scarring around 4–6 weeks post-procedure.

Immediate Aftercare Instructions

For the best results, do not wash your face or apply any products for at least 6 hours after treatment to allow the exosomes to fully absorb. Avoid touching the treated area for 4–6 hours. After this time, you may cleanse your face using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and apply recommended moisturisers or serums. Makeup should be avoided for 24 hours, and direct sun exposure should be strictly limited. Always wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ when outdoors. Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, hot showers, saunas, swimming, or sunbeds for 48 hours post-treatment. Harsh skincare products containing retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, or alcohol should be avoided for 3–5 days. Refrain from applying fake tan for 2–3 weeks following the procedure.

Ongoing Homecare

For the first 1–3 days post-treatment, your skin may feel dry or tight. Use your prescribed post-procedure topicals liberally to promote comfort and healing. After 24 hours, you may apply light, non-comedogenic makeup if needed. You can resume your regular skincare routine after 2–3 days, excluding harsh ingredients for up to 5 days. Low-dose vitamin A products may be reintroduced, and daily SPF use is essential. Only use physical (non-chemical) sunscreens on the day of treatment. Collagen-stimulating peptides, oral supplements such as omega-3, zinc, and glucosamine, and proper hydration can support optimal skin regeneration. Light exfoliation between days 3–5 can help remove flaking skin, but only if the skin is not irritated.

Additional Recommendations

To enhance results, apply your prescriptive post-treatment hydrating mask 3 days after the session. Between 5–14 days post-procedure, we recommend an in-clinic LED therapy session to promote collagen production and speed up healing. For optimal outcomes, a series of up to five treatments may be recommended by your practitioner.

Important Medical Information

Infection is a rare but possible risk. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience increasing pain, redness spreading beyond the treated area, warmth, pus, fever, or delayed swelling, as these may be signs of infection. Emergency medical help should be sought for any signs of severe allergic reaction, such as facial swelling, rash, or difficulty breathing. Results can generally be evaluated at the two-week mark, once all swelling has subsided. Attend your follow-up appointments as advised, even if your recovery appears uncomplicated.
