How Does RF Skin Tightening Work?
This technology works by heating up the skin, the dermis in particular, to approximately 42 degrees, using a treatment head with three or more “poles” emitting RF waves.
This targets the area immediately beneath the treatment head to a consistent depth of up to 8 mm, triggering three specific reactions:
- Existing collagen tissues shrink, providing an immediate tightening and plumping effect
- Old, fibrous collagen is denatured and broken down by the body.
- Fibroblasts (the cells that create new collagen) are stimulated to create new, fresh, supple collagen.
The production of new collagen fibres results in skin remodelling, taking place over a few weeks and lasting up to two years, although “top up” treatments are required every 3 to 6 months. Over time the volume of collagen increases in a more organised structure. This reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst also providing tighter, plumper firmer feeling skin.
